IPD started in 1955 as a distributor and later as a manufacturer of a wide variety of aftermarket products for various Heavy Equipment and Engine Models.

Since IPD's emergence from Chapter 11 Reorganization on September 27, we have moved into a new and exciting future as a member of the Storm family of companies. This move solidifies the 50-year investment made by Walter Storm, the co-founder of IPD, and highlights the Storm family’s continuous support of IPD.

Our parent organization, Storm Management, Inc. (SMI) is a diversified organization based in Torrance, California providing high-level management services—administrative, strategic, and financial—to the Storm family of companies. SMI has evolved over 70 years from a basic manufacturing enterprise into a sophisticated and complex group of affiliated businesses. Today the company operates Storm Manufacturing and IPD as its manufacturing entities, Storm Properties as its industrial real estate arm, and Storm Western Development as a builder of quality residential homes.
