IPD recently launched several new parts kits for Cummins® ISX EGR engine application (shown below). These kits feature a new “closed skirt” design EGR piston, featuring a reduced diameter top land that helps to reduce oil consumption, and minimizes liner polishing due to carbon packing.

This Technical Bulletin provides information on identification of the correct cylinder head gasket to use during a repair procedure on C10 and C12 engines. Engine serial and arrangement numbers only indicate the “original” cylinder head gasket with which the engine was assembled, and may not indicate the correct head gasket to use for repair. When cylinder heads or blocks are exchanged, the design of the replacement castings may require a different head gasket. There are two types of head gaskets, cylinder blocks, and cylinder heads that must be identified to confirm the correct cylinder head gasket.

Connecting rod bolts and nuts should be replaced after a major failure, or if there is any indication corrosion, pitting, scratches, and/or thread or shank damage.
